Melting plant in Simiński - Ordon iron foundry operates in duplex system.

Metal is melted in one of two water-cooled cupolas of 750 mm diameter without brickwork. Cupolas are furnished with oxygen-to-nozzles injection with ultrasonic speeds as well as with dedusting system.

Fluid metal is hold in Fomet company’s channel-type induction furnace Dupour PR6,5/5 of 300 kW power and of 6.5 ton capacity.

This furnace acts also as automatic pouring device. Inoculant is blown directly onto metal stream during mould pouring. Pouring temperature of each mould is measured with the help optical pyrometer and archived.

Works pertaining to practical implementation of series production of nodular cast iron are currently in progress at Simiński – Ordon iron foundry. Purchase and installation of medium-frequency electric crucible furnaces in the foundry is foreseen till the end of 2008. These furnaces are necessary for serial production of high quality nodular iron castings.

The whole process of liquid iron melting is subject to continuous detailed control. Process technologies as applied in the foundry make possible to provide very high stability of the process and high quality of iron castings.
