Start-up new electric melting plant

Launch of a new electric melting plant and start production of ductile iron castings.

Melting plant is a place where is produced the material to perform castings – grey iron and ductile iron. It is made in the mechanical and thermal processing of certain components which, after melting, allows to produce a rich-component raw material.  All used components have quality certificates. The composition of the material is carefully controlled, to ensure their strength properties.

Melting plant in Simiński-Ordon Cast Iron Foundry operates in duplex system. Metal is melted in a electric crucible furnaces of medium frequency with capacity of 2 x 4 tons. Next fluid metal is hold in a channel-type induction furnace with a capacity of 200 kW and a capacity of 4 tons.

This furnace acts also as automatic pouring device. Inoculant is blown directly onto metal stream during mould pouring. Pouring temperature of each mould is measured with the help of optical pyrometer. All data are archived.
